Yesterday i began a new chapter in my "broken leg" story - i had all the remaining hardware removed from my ankle, 3 years and two months afrer breaking my leg in a horseback riding accident. The surgery went very smoothly, and though my leg aches when the painkillers wear off, the pain is nowhere near as bad as when it broke. Of course, there's no trauma to heal, which is a huge plus, hehe.
So here are some photos for the non or only mildly-squeamish, LOL:
First, my pre-op xrays, showing that both bones in the leg were completely broken and lying *below* the ankle bones, rather than being attached above like they should be, LOL.
Second, my post-op xray, showing the plate that ran up the .....argh i think the fibula, i get them confused, and all the screws holding things in place.
Third, the hardware after being removed and sterilized. Looks brand new, never been used, LOL.
